This website is a kind of
memorial publishing of Egyptian Film Critic Medhat Mahfouz’ lifetime dedicated
effort to movie data gathering and film reviewing.
It contains tens of thousands of
titles; only about 8000 of them were published in his books Movies on Videotape
(Dalil Aflam Al-Video -1987) and Movies on Every Screen (Dalil Al-Aflam -1998).
The huge remaining part
comprises, in general, entries partially completed and were never published
until now.
Many new additions are expected
to come, therefore, for the time being this site can’t be considered a
full-fledged up-to-date movie database. The author is still
preferring to stick to his old belief of using Microsoft Word to publish
all his works. He thinks that any other software is ‘lossy,’ especially
when it comes to handling data ‑or even simple writing‑ in Arabic
(the ‘vaa’ letter is just a little example).
Though, this issue maybe
re-considered somewhere in future.
